ACA to have booth at the Pride Festival
May 30, 2007
ACA will have a booth at the 2007 Gay & Lesbian Pride Festival. The festival is part of our greater community and ACA has had a presence there for a number of years. It's a great way to educate people as to what atheism is and interact with the public on a personal level.
The festival will be June 9th from noon to 8pm at Waterloo Park (map). We will need volunteers to staff the event. Specifically, we'll have three shifts and we'll need 2-4 volunteers for each shift. The shift times are:
- First Shift: 11:30am - 2:30pm (includes booth setup)
- Second Shift: 2:30pm - 5:30pm
- Third Shift: 5:30pm - 8:30pm (includes booth tear-down)
If you are able to volunteer, contact Don Baker with your preferred shift and your contact information (both phone and e-mail). He'll be in contact with you concerning logistics.
If you're not able to volunteer, consider coming to the festival, checking out the music, offering moral support to the ACA folks, and seeing what other community groups are there.
From the officers:
The ACA Lecture Series continues Sunday, March 8th at 12:15pm at the Austin History Center, 9th and Guadalupe. The building opens at noon. Ryan Bell will talk on "My Year Without God: Now a Permanent Condition."
