Joe Zamecki, "A special atheist tour of Inner Space Cavern"

Joe Zamecki

January 15, 2006

Topic: A special atheist tour of Inner Space Cavern.

About the speaker
ACA member Joe Zamecki will give us a special tour of the Inner Space Cavern. He says:

"During the tour, I'll talk about how Inner Space Cavern was discovered, by a core-sample drilling team working for the Texas Highway Department. Hopefully we'll also get to see some bats up close, maybe even flying around us. We'll also be in comfortable climate the whole time. In the cave, the temperature stays around 72-78 degrees all year round, no matter what kind of weather is on the surface. We'll also see some of the fossilized bones that have been found in the cave. Some really fascinating animals lived on the surface of Texas at the times when cave-ins occured, and a lot of animals fell into the cave and died there. It's an eye-opening journey into the underground, where nature preserves bones and creates mineral formations that are a feast for the eyes. It's the closest show cave to Austin, tens of millions of years in the making, and conveniently located North of Austin, just off I-35 in South Georgetown.

Atheist Community of Austin

The Atheist Community of Austin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive atheism and the separation of church and state. The ACA serves the local Austin community through outreach programs, providing informational resources and various volunteer activities. In addition, the ACA serves the community-at-large through free online portals including informational wikis, regular audio/video podcasts and interactive blogs.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
