VOLUNTEER - Austin Tree Planting With Treefolks

The Atheist Community of Austin Events Calendar
Saturday, February 18, 2017 | 9:00 am - | 12:00 pm

The ACA will be helping to plant trees along Boggy Creek and Hargrave Road. Training to plant the saplings will take place at the event location (1098 Nile St.)

From the coordinating site:

Ready, Set, Plant! is a partnership between the City of Austin Forestry Division, City of Austin Watershed Protection, Keep Austin Beautiful, and TreeFolks, Inc. to plant small saplings that will not require irrigation. These saplings will help to restore native tree and shrub diversity and reduce water runoff and improve water quality in Austin's creeks.

You should wear long pants, long sleeved shirt, and closed toe shoes as we will be working in areas with tall vegetation along the creek. Poison ivy is frequently present in these areas, so it is important to dress wisely! Bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather. Water, coffee, light refreshments, gloves and tools will be provided.

Atheist Community of Austin

The Atheist Community of Austin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive atheism and the separation of church and state. The ACA serves the local Austin community through outreach programs, providing informational resources and various volunteer activities. In addition, the ACA serves the community-at-large through free online portals including informational wikis, regular audio/video podcasts and interactive blogs.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
