ACA lecture: Soaring Past 7 Billion: Population Challenges for a Crowded World

John Seager is the President and CEO of Population Connection. Before joining Population Connection, John was with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. John also served as Chief of Staff for former U.S. Representative Peter H. Kostmayer (D-PA), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs and Interior committees.

A veteran of more than 50 political campaigns, John has published op-eds and articles on population growth for a number of news outlets including Huffington Post, GlobalPost, and RH Reality Check. 

John frequently speaks at conferences on population, the environment, and women’s empowerment. He also presents at colleges and universities across the United States, including the University of Chicago, Smith College, and University of California-San Diego. John graduated from Trinity College (CT) with a B.A. in Political Science.

Population Connection (www.popconnect.org) is the preeminent grassroots group for population education and advocacy with 300,000 members and supporters.

John will be speaking on “Soaring Past 7 Billion: Population Challenges for a Crowded World.” His talk will address global population growth, its causes and impacts, and how we can meet those challenges. 

Atheist Community of Austin

The Atheist Community of Austin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive atheism and the separation of church and state. The ACA serves the local Austin community through outreach programs, providing informational resources and various volunteer activities. In addition, the ACA serves the community-at-large through free online portals including informational wikis, regular audio/video podcasts and interactive blogs.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
